In recognition of Trauma Awareness Month, CHRISTUS Health is helping families keep children safer on the road through its Safe Riders Child Safety Seat Distribution and Education Program.
The program, offered with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, provides eligible families with car seats and education on proper installation and child passenger safety. Officials say child safety seats can reduce the risk of death in a crash by more than 70%.
Families who qualify can attend a one-hour class led by certified technicians and receive hands-on instruction along with a car seat. The program also offers safety checks for existing car seats to ensure children are properly protected.
