A Bowie County grand jury has indicted nine former Telford Unit staff members and 10 inmates for allegedly conspiring to smuggle contraband into the New Boston prison.
The year-long investigation tied former employees, including a captain and sergeant, to members of the Bloods gang. Authorities say drugs and cell phones were brought into the facility, with payments made via CashApp by inmates’ associates.
All 19 individuals face two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity, which includes money laundering, bribery, and bringing prohibited items into a correctional facility.
