Texarkana Arkansas Police are warning job-seekers about a new online scam targeting people on sites like LinkedIn and ZipRecruiter.
Scammers are posting fake job listings that offer high pay for easy work, often using the names of well-known companies. After applying, victims quickly receive emails from fake “hiring managers” who ask them to click a link to confirm direct deposit info. The link leads to a site requesting personal details like Social Security numbers and credit card info.
Police say to be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true, never share personal information until you’ve verified the job is real, and check for suspicious email or phone contacts.
