The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department is warning about a new scam involving unexpected packages in the mail. Victims receive a box with no return address, often containing something worthless, but with a QR code printed on it.

Scanning that code can take you to a fake website that asks for personal information or secretly installs malware on your device. Experts say to be cautious with any package you didn’t order and never scan QR codes from unknown sources. Cybercriminals are counting on curiosity, so think twice before you scan.
