Business executive Tammy Waters has announced she will run for mayor of Texarkana, Arkansas, in this year's election.
Waters plans to seek the seat currently held by Mayor Allen Brown, whose second four-year term ends later this year. Candidate filing runs from July 29 through Aug. 5, with Election Day set for Nov. 3.
Waters has worked at Domtar in Ashdown for 24 years and currently serves as senior public affairs manager. She has also held several community leadership roles, including chair of the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
In announcing her campaign, Waters said she wants to help move the city forward, build on new opportunities, and strengthen Texarkana's future.
